Hopeful star takes on Texas State

SAN MARCOS- This week, I had the pleasure of meeting with Michelle Rivera for an interview. After just a few minutes of chatting, I learned what a fun, creative, and ambitious student she is!

This 22-year-old Electronic Media major has dreams of a career in front of a camera. She values change in the workplace and is looking forward to a future with open routes. That’s why, if her career as a star doesn’t work out, she is also interested in production. Right now, she is working at Wing Daddy’s in Austin, TX, and she’s hoping to find a career that keeps her in the Austin area. 

Even though she focuses hard on work, school and her future, Michelle also manages to find time for hobbies. Her favorite bar on the square is Sean Patrick’s, specifically because of the $6 pitchers. She enjoys relaxing in the bath, writing poetry and spending time with her husky, Zada, anytime she can. What takes up most of her time, though, is vlogging. Michelle makes lifestyle vlogs where she talks about and shows viewers the cool places she goes to, new foods she tries, and the concerts she attends. Keep an eye out for her posts!

The new king of Pop Culture and Calico cats

SAN MARCOS—Christian Godinez is an outgoing, creative and involved individual. He majors in Advertising and minors in Pop Culture at Texas State University as a sophomore. His creative spirit shines through his leadership roles as a Cat Camp Counselor and Texas State University Ambassador. When Christian is not in school, he enjoys creative writing, singing and attending music festivals such as South by Southwest, where he met Kesha, the Chainsmokers and more.

However, the ambitious nineteen-year-old’s interest in the arts quickly became more than a hobby. In 2018, he made a new years resolution that he would follow his interest in film and acting by attending casting auditions for upcoming films. But these big city dreams are not all that he cares about. Christian also has a soft spot for his older sister, Kayla, any type of Mexican food and his Mastiff Doberman, Bubba. And no matter how successful he becomes in acting, Christian will never give up on his dream of being a cat dad to his own Calico cat.

Introducing Eden Freeman

Eden Freeman has spent her entire life in Austin, Texas, and still resides in the busy city. She lives at home with her 16 year old brother and her rescue dog, and commutes to Texas State University everyday. Although school takes up majority of her time, she spends her time outside of school working at PetSmart as a groomer. In fact, her love for animals originally lead her to dreams of becoming a vet, but she discovered two years into her time at Austin Community College that science wasn't her true passion.  After transferring to Texas State, she found her calling in Digital Media Innovation in the hopes of one day working in television production. With her college years coming closer to an end, Eden is looking forward to finding internships and to getting some more experience in her career field. She building her portfolio with all of her classes this year as she gets ready to enter her last year of college!

Ambitious Dreams Ahead for Ashley Hale

SAN MARCOS--- Ashley Hale is a junior at Texas State University, majoring in Public Relations and minoring in Psychology. She graduates in May 2019 and hopes to start her career at a PR firm or head to law school, just like her mother did. Hale said she is most inspired by her mother who cared for her family, commuted to law school, and maintained a stable job. Hale is originally from Dallas, however spent most of her Childhood in Round Rock with her parents. Her mom is a lawyer and her dad currently works for Oracell. When Hale was in 5^th grade, her parents divorced, and Hale stayed with her mother. Hale was an only child; however, she has two dogs, a maltipoo and golden retriever, that she looks after and cares for deeply. When she wasn’t playing with her dogs or at school, she devoted much of her time to soccer. Although, it became too time consuming when she reached the tenth grade, so she decided to step down. After she quit soccer, she devoted much of her time focusing on her future and going to university. She was accepted into Texas Tech University, where she spent her freshman year, after which she transferred to Texas State University. She currently works on campus as a receptionist at the Undergraduate Admissions Center. She helps facilitate New Student Orientation for incoming freshman at Texas State University as well. When Hale isn’t working or studying, she likes to rest, workout, and watch “This is us”. She has also had the privilege of traveling to Brazil with family and attending a mission trip to Haiti. Hale is a well-rounded person and has a bright future ahead of her.

Meet the Future of Pixar

Carrington Tatum

SAN MARCOS – Carrington Tatum, an ambitious Sophomore, is currently pursuing a degree in Electronic Media at Texas State University. Although college was a backup plan for him, he is making the most of it. He works for the school’s paper, the University Star, and is also the YouTube manager for the podcast company: The Loud Speakers Network.

Carrington is an only child and a mama’s boy at heart. Growing up with separated parents made life a little difficult sometimes, but he always had his mom to lean on and his dad to call if he needed something.

As someone who values reason over everything, Carrington is easy to talk to and hold a conversation with. He actively listens and is able to regurgitate information without flaws. He is well-spoken and determined. When he makes up his mind about something, there’s no stopping him.

An eclectic at heart, he has a high appreciation for critical thinking and creativity. He is passionate about filmmaking and wants to work for a production company after graduation. Carrington’s dream job is designing animated films for Pixar and getting the opportunity to travel with the company.

The Great, Fouad Ali.

SAN MARCOS- If you don't know Fouad Ali, then you're in luck today. After conducting a successful interview with Mr. Ali, I have come to learn many things that make him one interesting guy.

Mr.Ali is a 22-year-old Senior at Texas State University with a major in Advertising. After further discussion of Mr.Ali's choice to select Advertising as his major, he went ahead and gave me the future insight of his dream job which is either joining an Advertising firm, or even better Mr. Ali wants to direct movies one day! As you can see, Mr. Ali has his expectations held high for himself.

Mr. Ali has been very involved during his years at Texas State University, as he is involved in the fraternity, Mu Sigma Nu, and even got the chance to serve as chapter president for the fraternity last year. Mr.Ali also keeps occupied while working for the fast food chain, Chick-Fil-A. As you can see, Mr.Ali is a busy man. 

In his free time, Mr. Ali likes to travel the world (his most recent travels include Japan and parts of Europe!) and play with his adorable Husky doggie, Dexter. Mr. Fouad Ali once told me his name meant "someone with a good heart", so Mr.Ali is gonna take that good heart and embark on the greatest adventure ever, life.

Mentorship is the first step for this law school hopeful

SAN MARCOS––Triston C. Giesie is not your average college student. By day he is a Public Relations major with law school dreams, by night the best Residential Assistant to walk Tower Hall.

However, it would be a shame to limit Giesie's success on campus to a single major or career field. When he is not preoccupied with the welfare of aspiring media professionals in the Living Learning Community that resides in Tower Hall, he is leading the Triathlon team and the Society of Professional Journalists as an officer in both organizations.

Though only a 19-year-old junior, Giesie hopes to attend law school at the University of Texas post-graduation. After law school, Giesie, armed with a Public relations degree and a plethora of experience cleaning up messes as a Residential Assistant (both literally and figuratively), hopes to help candidates win local and state elections or have his own political career take off.
